Konopka's
Mike Konopka's new recording studio, "PIE IN THE SKY" is has been busy in music production lately. The studio features a spacious control room, a live room, and a sweet sounding studio space. PIE IN THE SKY, designed by Konopka, features fully floating double wall construction, an innovative soundproof ceiling and basstrap system, and great sight lines throughout the entire facility. The control room features lots of vintage analog and current rack gear by UREI, DBX, Neotek, John Hardy, Lexicon, Alesis, Antares, and TC Electronics. The custom playback system includes vintage monitoring by JBL, Crown, and Dynaco. Pro Tools and Alesis HD24 systems are integrated and coupled with a British Soundtracs analog console. A vintage Studer two track mastering deck is now in place. Working in both analog and digital domains, Mike Konopka draws on his 30 years of mixing experience to produce high quality audio for clients worldwide. Konopka Mix Your Song! Recent PIE IN THE SKY Projects Include: Musician, actor, director & writer Nate Herman had Mike mix his "Byrds" version of Rebecca Black's ala' Bob Dylan "Friday" at Pie.
Veteran radio producer and Colubia College faculty member George Zarr had Mike complete an audio restoration project for his musical "The First (and Last) Musical on Mars". Mike recorded and edited BJBE's Cantor Jennifer Frost and recording artist Josh Nelson and for a CD project for the URJ's Biennial meeting in Washngton D.C. Christopher Alvarado was in at Pie to record a new original 6 song CD project to be released in early 2012. The set was co-produced by Mike and additional production was recorded at Time Warp Studios in Barrington, IL.
Singer/songwriters Andrew Dennen and Tracy Friend mixed their new original CD colaboration project "God Is Near" with Mike at Pie In The Sky. The project features 13 original liturgical-based songs ranging from pop to jazz and from ballads to middle-eastern fare, and was recorded at Andy's project studio in Grayslake, Il.

In 2011 Mike Konopka formed The Joe Hill Heartlanders to record protest songs in support of middle class workers rights. The Heartlanders include: Diane Carter Zubko, Dan Swanson, Trish Ramsey, Kyle Madsen, Jill Blair, Darren Styles and Mike Konopka. Mike Konopka is always busy mixing live Country shows for United Stations Radio Network's "THE ROAD" syndicated radio program.
