Mike Konopka's new recording studio, "PIE IN THE SKY" is has been busy in music production lately. The studio features a spacious control room, a live room, and a sweet sounding studio space. PIE IN THE SKY, designed by Konopka, features fully floating double wall construction, an innovative soundproof ceiling and basstrap system, and great sight lines throughout the entire facility. The control room features lots of vintage analog and current rack gear by UREI, DBX, Neotek, John Hardy, Lexicon, Alesis, Antares, and TC Electronics. The custom playback system includes vintage monitoring by JBL, Crown, and Dynaco. Pro Tools and Alesis HD24 systems are integrated and coupled with a British Soundtracs analog console. A vintage Studer two track mastering deck is now in place. Working in both analog and digital domains, Mike Konopka draws on his 30 years of mixing experience to produce high quality audio for clients worldwide. The
Rockin' Johnny Band
After a break from the music industry scene for a few years, Chicago Blues guitarist Rockin' Johhny is back makin' waves with a brand new CD entitled "Now's The Time". The artist's 13 track CD was recorded at Pie In The Sky with Mike Konopka handling the recording, mixing and mastering. The Rockin' Johnny Band features studio legend Rick Kreher on rhythm guitar, John Sefner on bass, and Rob Lorenz on the vintage Slingerland drums.
The
"Now's The Time" CD also features keyboards by Greg Sefner
who got great raw organ sounds using Pie's Hammond M-3 paired to
Greg's vintage Leslie tone cabinet. A live cut recorded by Konopka
at B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted in Chicago rounds out the new set. For

Mixing
For United Stations Radio Network's
Mike Konopka is always busy mixing live Country shows for United Stations Radio Network's "THE ROAD" syndicated radio program. Heard in radio markets coast to coast, the show features the best in live Traditional & Contemporary Country music. Shows are produced by USRN's Richard Kimball & Stephanie Voso, recorded on location nationwide by Metro Mobile Location Recording, and mixed by Mike at PIE IN THE SKY, Konopka's studio facilty. Mike

Recent Projects Recorded
Mike
Konopka recently co-produced and engineered a new CD project for
the fabulous Goranie which features traditional Gypsy music
from the Highlands regions of Poland. The songs are all early
folk songs from the 1900's and on. The instrumentation features
violin, viola, cymbaline hammered dulcimer, double bass, and accordian
and vocals. This is Mike's third project with the group and it
was tracked at Time Warp Studios and then overdubbed and mixed
at Pie In The Sky. Visit
