Seagrape
Studios was built in 1986 on Chicago's far northside. Mike Konopka
and architect Rob Jones brainstormed the design. The modular
reveal ceiling was designed by Mike's Seagrape partner Tom Haban.
The General Contractor for the project was Ron Cannon. Ron and
Mike have worked together on many studio design projects since
Seagrape.
Seagrape's
control room. Featuring triple pane glass, (on each window!) and
lead lined walls. Also visible are my variable acoustic panels
in the studio behind the drums.
Seagrape
Studios also featured 16' ceilings, floating floors, a sand-filled
drum stage, a large vocal booth, and a Neotek Series 3 console
and MCI multitracks.
